During her four years at the Waterloo School of Optometry, Dr. Bell was an active participant in student association where she served as president of the Lion’s Club. She also served as Social Affairs Director for the Canadian Association of Optometry Students. Dr. Bell was a member in good standing with the Low Vision Interest Group as well as the Sports Vision Club.
Dr. Bell completed her ocular disease and therapeutics externship in Baltimore, Maryland as well as internships in primary care and vision therapy at the University of Waterloo and in Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Bell has a special interest in vision therapy and has taken it upon herself to further her education in this rewarding area of optometry.
Dr. Bell has had the opportunity to work in Baltimore and Thunder Bay running vision screenings for athletes in the Special Olympics. Dr. Bell’s passion for helping others has taken her around the world to volunteer in mission trips. Her travels took her to Romania, Mexico, Thailand and Jamaica. Giving back to the community is very important for Dr. Bell as she continues to volunteer her time for optometric mission trips and local fundraisers.
Outside of optometry, in her free time, Dr. Bell has her fitness instructor certification and enjoys staying active by both teaching and participating in fitness classes. She also enjoys travelling, drawing and spending time with family and friends.
